NEWS: Billy Crystal coming to TV, Homeland adds more to its cast, Bad Teacher gets a late pick up to series order

... FX has ordered a pilot for The Comedians, starring Billy Crystal, who will star as an aging yuckster who is reluctantly teamed up with a young comedian for a late-night sketch show. Larry Charles (Seinfeld) is behind the project, which is based on a Swedish series.


CASTING NEWS
... Billy Baldwin (Daniel's brother) has joined the cast of Copper. Well, for the last two episodes of Season 2 at least. He'll play WIlliam "Wild Bill" Eustace, a power player in New York who turns real estate wheeling and dealing into political power.
... Showtime's Homeland has added a bunch of guest stars to its Season 3 roster. Joanna Merlin (Law & Order: SVU) will play Jessica Brody's mom, Nazanin Boniadi (How I Met Your Mother) joins as a young analyst, Amy Morton (Boss) plays Carrie's lawyer, Gary Wilmes (Louie) plays Dana's psychiatrist, and Sam Underwood (The Last Keepers) plays Dana's new troublemaking friend. Also dropping by for some work are Tracy Letts, Lawrence Clayton, and Pedro Pascal. 
... CBS has ordered one more pilot to series: the TV adaptation of the Cameron Diaz's 2011 zinger "Bad Teacher". Joy.Given the late decision, CBS will save this one for midseason. Single-camera comedy "Bad Teacher" stars Ari Graynor in the role Diaz portrayed, that of a divorced woman who starts teaching to find a husband.  The series also stars Ryan Hansen, David Alan Grier, Kristin Davis, and Sara Gilbert. 
... Clive Owen and Steven Soderbergh are in talks to team up for a new Cinemax series called "The Knick". Set in 1900 New York, it follows the breakthroughs in the medical industry during that era before the dawns of antibiotics and miniature robots. Owen would star, and Soderbergh would direct all 10 episodes. 
... The upcoming Syfy show Notorious Hauntings about paranormal investigators who check out historical sites has changed its title. It's now called "Killer Contact". And it will debut July 16.
... Starz's next original series "The White Queen" will premiere on Saturday, August 10 at 9pm. Co-produced by the BBC, it's an adaptation of Phillipa Gregory's novels about England's War of the Roses. Rebecca Ferguson, Max Irons, Janet McTeer, and James Frain star. 
... FX's "Sons of Anarchy" is bringing in one of TV's most trustworthy performers next season. CCH Pounder (The Shield) is joining the Season 6 cast as Tyne Patterson, a District Attorney who doesn't play nice with SAMCRO and their violent methods. The move reunites Pounder with "Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter, who was a writer on The Shield.
... DirecTV's upcoming high-concept series "Full Circle" from Neil LaBute is assembling an impressive cast. David Boreanaz (Bones), Kate Walsh (Private Practice), Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights), Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck), Tom Felton (Harry Potter), and Ally Sheedy (The Breakfast Club) have all joined the drama, which follows restaurant conversations between two different characters in each episode, with one of the characters talking to a new character each week until the "full circle" is complete. The DirecTV exclusive is looking at a fall 2013 premiere.
